Hyperdimension neptunia mk2 why is it rated m

Everything feels much smoother, you won't be jamming L2 to skip attacks all the time like you probably did in the first game. Enemy encounters are also no longer random battles; enemies roam the map and you can choose whether to engage them or not.

Random healing has also been done away with, items can be used at any time provided the character has enough AP. The new characters are all fairly likable, and there's plenty of time given to the old characters as well. The Lily System is a teasingly pseudo-lesbian meter of how much the other characters like the protagonist, Nepgear. It can be raised by fighting alongside characters as well as viewing events in towns.

The system allows you to pair two characters together, with the back-row character providing passive bonuses to the character in front. Combo attacks are also available between certain paired characters if their Lily Rank is high enough. There are a large number of possible endings, 7 in total, with 2 of them being significantly different from the others and one of them being a non-canon hidden ending that is surprisingly serious and dark in an otherwise cheerful game, no doubt one of the reasons this game received an 'M' rating that, and a particularly perverse slimeball of a boss.

Those will really push your characters to their limits. If you liked the first game there's no way in hell that you won't like the sequel, it's an improvement in every way. If you didn't like the first game because of the gameplay but you enjoyed the characters, you may want to consider giving this one another chance.

There are only two gamebreaking issues. A The model resolution was crap and the usage of 3D models in my opinion are ill-advised. When they used 2D sprites in the same game, it was far better. Another question: Why bother having two separate styles here? Do you want to go with 2D or 3D? This whole issue does not add to anything. B Tonal clash. This game has a hard time figuring out what it wants to be. Part of the time, it is this super grimdark story, with endings like the True and Conquest Endings.

The latter being the best ending, don't me. Part of the time, it wants to be a generic, shoujo ai moe blob. The way it was handled was sloppy. That being said, it had a lot of wonderful things. Great soundtrack Great story The Conquest Ending and subsequently Nepgear's character growth Lots and lots of shoujo ai. More please. I think the worst thing about this game is the repetition. It's always the same way: you watch some scenes, go into a dungeon, defeat monsters I think the worst thing about this game is the repetition.

It's always the same way: you watch some scenes, go into a dungeon, defeat monsters and a boss. There's nothing different to break the routine.

And it goes to the soundtrack too: always the same for events, even for different places. Scenes also don't step away from repetitive graphics and animation, and sometimes they simply don't show who is talking in the screen. Recycled dungeons and poor enemies design. And in my case, I suffered from some freezing in the first minutes of every dungeon.

But let's talk about the good things: variety of endings, many playable characters, great set of skills including team skills , cool battle gameplay and many items to customize and synth. This game is far from perfect, but if you're a fan of JRPGs you should give it a try, specially to support NIS America to continue bringing japanese content to the west. The first Hyperdimension Neptunia game left me rather disappointed.

No age gates here. Not for the store page, not for the community hub. Originally posted by TempKitsempt :. Last edited by Guild Sweetheart ; 30 May, pm. Agarite View Profile View Posts. You can see a small writeup for games on the ESRB website that give some of the reasons why games get the ratings they do. Last edited by Elura ; 30 May, pm. Ah, thank you for pointing it out. I would blame the community screenshots section.

Will all of the all of the event scenes including DLC scenarios have full English voice acting, as well Japanese voiceovers? The Japanese voices will be fully intact, but due to budget restraints and the massive cast of the game, we chose the most interesting and story-relevant scenes to voice in English.

A lot of this is due to the battle line count—when we have a budget for, say, 6, lines and battle lines turn out to be around 3, for all of the characters, we have to pick and choose.

There were about nine main roles in Neptunia since we only did battle lines for Red and 5pb. Since Neptunia was rated T, what changed in this game? Basically, the themes of this game tipped it from a T to an M. There is one sequence of events involving a villain who likes to lick girls, and there is an entire ending route with themes that are extremely emotional and traumatic.

During the rating process, there was a lot of back and forth between us and the review team at the ESRB. In the end, they settled on a Mature rating because some events were considered too edgy or traumatic for a Teen rating.

Those who have played the Japanese version and have achieved a certain ending know exactly what I am referring to no spoilers, please! Has anything been censored or changed for Western territories in Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2? As mentioned above, some red tape prevented three DLC items, but everything else is intact. We did localize a few terms to jive with the mythos introduced in Neptunia 1.

We wanted to give these villains a similar acronym that meant the opposite evil instead of divine, but retaining a technological sound , and we decided on CFW, meaning Criminal of the Free World. Can you tell us about the print order? Hyperdimension Neptunia was pretty hard to find just a week or two after it came out. Are you planning to print more copies of Neptunia mk2? Our print number is always based on the preorder numbers from multiple game stores.
